Membership in AAPHD is open to all individuals concerned with improving the oral health of the public. There are several membership categories based upon affiliation in dental public health.
All membership categories are on a calendar year basis, January 1 – December 31. While AAPHD does not prorate membership dues, anyone who joins / renews after October 1 will receive the remainder of the calendar year as well as the next calendar year for the same membership fee.
Choose the category that fits
All categories include the Journal of Public Health Dentistry, member-only website sections, and conference registration discounts at NOHC.
Resident or Student
Dental Public Health Residents, Other Dental Residents, and Students in dental, hygiene, therapy, or public health programs. Must be enrolled at least half-time in an accredited educational program.

Associate
Any non-dentist individual with an interest in dental public health — dental assistants, hygienists, therapists, physicians, nurses, researchers, administrators, and more.

Dentist (Full)
DDS, DMD, or equivalent degree, plus one of: (1) completion of a CODA-accredited advanced education program in dental public health; (2) advanced public health training (e.g., MPH); or (3) sufficiently demonstrated experience or interest in dental public health.

Life Member
An AAPHD Dentist or Associate member in good standing who has achieved 20 years of continuous membership and is no longer practicing public health or preventive dentistry. Requires submission of a Lifetime Membership Application for office approval.

Higher contribution levels available. Dentist and Associate members may select Contributing, Sustaining, or Sponsoring — same eligibility, with additional support for AAPHD's organizational, advocacy, and infrastructure work.
